KES Parents play an important role in the life of King Edward’s School. As a group of parent volunteers, our aim is to help build a strong and vibrant parent community for KES, so that all parents and their children can meet, have fun and raise funds at a variety of social events throughout the year.
FOCUSED AIMS
We aim:
KES Parents attend welcome events and organise coffee mornings at the start of each school year, with the aim of welcoming parents at the start of the new academic year. If you see us at an event, please do say hello - we are very friendly and would love to meet you!
We also coordinate a very active ‘New to Bath’ programme, led by Steph and Amber, which includes a New to Bath Picnic at the Bathampton Playing Fields, held in September.
Volunteers also help out at Open Day events, sharing their KES experiences with prospective parents.
The types of social events include new parent drinks, coffee mornings, wine tastings, quiz nights and larger scale events, such as the annual Christmas Fair and a Summer Party. We are always open to new ideas for future social events. Please email [email protected] with your suggestions.
We also provide a warm welcome to families who are new to KES and families who have just moved to Bath via our ‘New to Bath’ group.
If you have any ideas for future events and/or would like to get involved, please contact [email protected]
KES Parents is always looking to welcome new parents to join their team, share fresh ideas and to support their many events.
There are lots of ways in which you could get involved with KES Parents:
Joining KES Parents is a great way to make new friends and have fun whilst raising valuable funds for the school. If you are a parent at KES and are interested in getting involved, please contact Wendy Powney, at [email protected] to discuss how you could get involved.
You can keep up-to-date with all of their news and events by following on Twitter and Instagram at @KESBathParents
The team are looking for additional volunteers to help organise and run social events. If you would like to join this enthusiastic team, please email [email protected]
A team of dedicated helpers run the nearly new uniform shop, based on the Sports Hall balcony. The shop is open on some Wednesday afternoons and some Saturdays during term-time - please check the Nearly New Uniform page in the Parents section of the school website to confirm dates on the rolling schedule you will find there. Items can be donated or sold; in the latter case the purchase price is split, with 50% being returned to the original owner and the remaining 50% added to funds raised by KES Parents.

Every year, KES Parents’ social events raise a significant amount of money for all three schools, which directly supports and improves facilities for our children. Each school submits a formal request to the KES Parents team, who subsequently review the bids and allocate funds towards ongoing school projects, enhancing facilities and/or purchasing additional classroom/outdoor equipment.
In 2022-23, KES Parents allocated a very generous sum of over £34,000 to support many initiatives across the three schools, including a range of sensory equipment at the Pre-Prep, Geodesic Dome kits for Junior DT, a new piano for the Senior School Music department, a VEO camera and kit for PE, funds to support the Year 11 and 13 Proms and funds to enhance the social and outdoor facilities of the Wessex courtyard. Further details can be found below.
All alongside regular support of the KES Bursary Fund.
In previous years, KES Parents have funded the following:
