Whilst the Senior Cricket Programme here at KES was interrupted by Covid-19 during the summer term, as restrictions lifted and ECB guidelines allowed, an adapted summer programme took place over the holidays to ensure Year 13 cricketeers were able to enjoy a final season of school cricket.
Training took place on a weekly basis ahead of playing four 1st XI fixtures against Bath CC, the XL Club an OE team and the Headmaster’s XI.
Winning three out of their four matches, team highlights included Adam Baxter taking 4 wickets and William Metcalfe 65 not out vs. the XL Club while Seb Chester-Phillips and Josh Welsh were 50 and 40 not out respectively against the OEs.
Commenting on the adapted Senior Cricket Programme, Mr Brown, Head of Cricket at KES, said: “It was a great way to finish a summer wrecked by the Covid situation and it was brilliant to provide some matches for our leavers and to thank them for their commitment to sport at school over the many years they have been at KES. The squad played some exciting, positive cricket throughout the matches and the leavers were ably supported by our younger players within the 1st XI.’
