Senior hockey goalkeepers are looking forward to today's Teams session with Keir Starley, who is the Wales senior goalkeeping coach, in the first in a series of sporting keynote sessions organised by the Sports department.
Commenting on today's session, Mr Hacker, Director of Sport at KES said:
It is great to welcome Keir to the KES senior GK session. Keir is a leading hockey GK coach in Britain, who played for England at U16 – U21 level, as well as captaining the England Masters over 35 team, and he also played for Canterbury HC in the National league.
Currently he is the Wales Senior GK coach. His background in coaching extends to working in schools such as Whitgift School, Croydon and at present at The Langton Grammar School, Canterbury. He has also undertaken club coaching with Holcombe in the Ladies National League.
Keir is just about to launch his own company called Hero Goalie, establishing it with former Scotland Senior goal keeper, Alan Dick. He has worked with Maddie Hinch, arguably the best ladies GK in the World at the moment, who, as we know, was the backbone of Team GB winning the Olympic Gold medal in Rio! He is also mentored by Steve Bayer, Belgium’s Men’s Senior coach, who is arguably the best in the world…so he is very much up to speed with current trends! Keir has very kindly agreed to share some of his secrets with us today!
