Pre-Prep & Nursery School Events

On Friday a very special celebration took place at the Pre-Prep and Nursery, as the KES community came together to mark the School’s 20th Birthday; 1999 being the year that the former Park School amalgamated with King Edward’s to form the Pre-Prep on Weston Lane.

Nearly 300 children, parents, staff and friends of the School gathered for a summer party which included the reciting of a prayer first read out in 1999 at a whole school assembly.

This is our school,
Let peace live here.
Let the rooms be full of happiness.
Let love be all around,
Love of one another,
Love of all people,
And love of life and living.
Let us remember
That as many hands build a house,
So many hearts make a school.

Speaking at the party, Jayne Gilbert, Headteacher at KES Pre-Prep, commented that the prayer conveyed what has been at the heart of the Pre-Prep for the last twenty years - many hearts – commenting: “It is the staff who have worked here, the children that have come through, the parents, the governors and KES senior management team that have made the school such a special place.“

2019 has witnessed some exciting new developments at the Pre-Prep, which includes the opening earlier this year of Teddy’s Garden.  Featuring raised beds for planting, a Victorian greenhouse and purpose-built dipping pond, the garden has quickly become a favourite space among the children.  Following fast on its heels, a new climbing area will be installed over the summer, followed by a fantastic all-weather surface for the children to enjoy all year round, both for recreational use and PE lessons.
