Congratulations to Xavier in Year 13 who joins four other young performers as a finalist in the 2019 Bath Young Musician of the Year.
Organised by the Mid-Somerset Festival, the Bath Young Musician of the Year competition is a prestigious annual event. Finalists are selected from those who have done very well in their vocal or instrumental classes in the previous Mid-Somerset Festival. Participants must be under 21 and live or study in Bath, or within a 15 radius of the city.
“We are absolutely thrilled that Xavier has been chosen to perform at this prestigious event for a second time,” said Mr Drury, Director of Music at KES. “He has had a hugely successful year as a soloist at King Edward’s, culminating in a wonderful performance of Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto in Bb K.191 at our Side-by-Side Gala Concert in March, accompanied by our professional partners, Bath Philharmonia. Xavier’s performance last year at the BYMofY was outstanding and displayed great polish, technical assuredness, maturity and individuality and we are sure he will enjoy performing at this level again. We wish him every success in his preparations and look forward to being there to support him and the other musicians.”
The Final of Bath Young Musician of the Year is taking place on 1 October at 7.30pm, The Pump Room in Bath. Tickets for the event are available from Bath Box Office TEL: 01225 463362 or EMAIL: bathboxoffice.org.uk
