Last weekend saw the first of a series of six Maths masterclasses that are hosted by the University of Bath.
18 Year 8 Mathematicians attended lectures on different types of fractals, both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional. They explored the areas and perimeters of these interesting shapes, and tried work out the proof of the Koch snowflake having a finite area and yet an infinite perimeter. They also enjoyed the hands-on workshop where they worked in teams to create the 3 dimensional Menger Sponge.
