Co-Curricular Life Awards & Achievements

Almost exactly a year ago, the Bath International Schools Model United Nations (BISMUN) 2020 was one of the last events to take place before the Prime Minister announced the first national lockdown. This year, Kingswood School were not able to welcome delegates in person, so instead hosted a virtual conference which took place on Teams on Saturday and ran from 10am to just after 3pm.

KES sent four delegations representing China, Iran, Malaysia and Mozambique. It was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to engage with international politics and debate with other pupils from schools across the country.

Many congratulations must go out to our China delegation for winning Best Delegation of the conference! What a fantastic achievement. This experienced MUN team of Louis B, Luke R, Alice M, Chris S and Tallulah B did an amazing job, both in leading their debates and also with supporting our newer and younger MUN delegates, giving guidance and encouragement during the conference itself as well as beforehand in preparation by reading resolutions and writing guidance documents. These Year 13s leave a great legacy and are a fine example of the power of effective teamwork.

Few individual awards were handed out, so our pupils did really well to win several. Louis and Luke both won Best Delegate in their committees (Security Council and Environment respectively), Alice won Highly Commended in Disarmament and Chris won Commended in Human Rights.

The KES Malaysian delegation also did well – Mathew M and Josh B-R both winning Commended delegate awards.

It was undoubtedly challenging presenting online so all delegates did brilliantly well just to take part in this virtual event.
