Co-Curricular Life Charity

Aloud, the School's gender equality club run by Sixth Form pupils and attended by pupils from across the Senior School, relaunched this year with the aim of raising awareness of gender inequality issues in society and discussing what we can do to help tackle these. This led to a very successful cake sale that Aloud planned and baked for in which we achieved our goal, to raise £265 to ‘sponsor a sister’ through Women for Women International. This is a non-profit humanitarian organisation that provides practical and moral support to female survivors of war.

Through this organisation, Aloud will sponsor a woman, providing her with education on health, business skills, and a skill which can be used to make money in her area. It will also, importantly, provide her with a community, as not only will she be in a class with about 20 other women, but we will also be able to communicate with our partnered ‘sister’ by writing and sending her letters via the organisation. This is a great start for Aloud, and we are excited to continue making a difference, both internationally and locally.
