Community Charity

This has been a very busy term for our charity fundraising.

At the start of the year, one of our sixth formers, Orla, had the pleasure of attending a meeting with representatives from other local schools, with the aim of fundraising to help to send generators to Oleksandriya in Ukraine. Lots of exciting fundraising plans are afoot, including a recent concert at Bath Abbey.

In February the School held a successful cake sale and raised £365, which was donated to the Turkey-Syria Earthquake appeal, whilst in March the KES community donated an incredible 570 new and nearly new books to Bath Foodbank as part of their Book Bank incentive to provide books to children and adults in our local community.

A particular highlight of the term saw nine KES staff and one brave Year 7 pupil, Zac, abseil down Bath Abbey to raise money for The Genesis Trust. The team raised £3,591 and battled through all types of weather to get to the bottom safely. It was a memorable event, and lots of people turned out to support the team.

In addition, the School has also held two Foodbank collections and thanks to everyone’s generous donations, the vans were full to the brim!

Our hugely popular KES Unite Charity Concert, once again featured an evening of music by KES Soul, as well as solo musical performers and dance acts. This concert was in aid of our international school charity, Moving Mountains Trust. The charity’s founder, Gavin Bate, opened the evening with an inspiring talk about the Trust’s work. There was a delicious curry midway through the evening and a raffle with some fantastic prizes. Some of the proceeds from the evening will be used to buy items to send out to Kenya ahead of the school trip this July.

Our final fundraising efforts this term included the charity netball match against Royal High School, which ended in a nail-biting 39-39 draw whilst raising £236, and a cake sale raising £749 in aid of the Generators for Ukraine appeal.

Thank you so very much to everyone in our school community for making these charitable events possible and for giving much needed support to a range of fantastic causes.
