Not content with guiding the KES teams to another successful completion of the Ten Tors Challenge last weekend (his 23rd consecutive year of doing so!) Mr Laney, Head of Biology, has set himself one further (not inconsiderable) challenge this term – entering the legendary Berghaus Dragon’s Back Race in Wales – one of the world’s toughest mountain running races.

The five-day, 315km race takes in the majority of Wales’ main summits and involves a total ascent of almost 16,000 metres across wild, trackless, remote and mountainous terrain.  Starting in Conwy and finishing in Landeilo, the race follows the mountainous spine of Wales from north to south.

It is not the first time Mr Laney has tackled a challenging race, having previously entered the notorious Spine Race along the Pennines in 2015.

In entering the Dragon’s Back Race, Mr Laney hopes to raise money for school charity, Off the Record, a Bath-based mental health and well-being support service for young people.

If you would like to support Mr Laney’s efforts and help fundraise for this important local service, you can do so via the following justgiving page, https://localgiving.org/fundraising/twll-dragonsback-2019/

We will be following Mr Laney’s progress during the race, with updates available via @KESBathAid on twitter.
