COMING SOON .... Discontented Winter: House Remix by Bryony Lavery is a play that was commissioned for the National Theatre Connections project and was specifically written with young people in mind. It is a major departure from previous school shows in terms of style and attitude and is an exciting and challenging production for the School's first ever Year 9 production.

Rehearsals kicked off earlier this term with a rap and mixing workshop from former and very talented OEs, Jake Hight and Louie Milton. Louie is creating original music and samples for the show and will be Djing and mixing live on stage for the production.

The play itself is both a tongue-in-cheek comedy and a serious commentary on social issues, mixing Shakespeare with Star trek references in a subversive manner. Essentially it is about young people trying to control their circumstances by kidnapping authority figures and their suggestion is that society’s ills will be sorted if the world is ruled by the Teen Green Government. Yet the real action of the play is controlled by the storm makers of the flash mob who are anarchic technological wizards who could if they wanted, simply by using their mobile phones, organise a rave in a field or gridlock a city on a whim.

This is a play mad with invention, adventurous and artful, possibly confusing but definitely entertaining! Come along and be part of our theatrical remix!

The box office for this production will open at the beginning of the Spring Term.  Show dates: 12 & 13 February 2020
