This week Year 3 had a fun day filled with drama.
Their day started with a morning workshop led by a drama expert from The Egg Theatre, which included fun drama games to develop their confidence and teamwork. The children then learned about some characters from the story of Peter Pan, such as Peter, Captain Hook, Wendy and Tink and after that they worked in teams to create ‘sculptures’ of these characters, thinking about body language and facial expressions. The workshop finished with the children creating adverts in groups, trying to persuade Wendy to stay in Neverland. The children impressed all the adults by putting in oodles of energy and learning ways to improve their acting.
In the afternoon, Year 3 followed up their workshop with a trip to The Egg to watch a performance of Wendy, a modern-day take on the story of Peter Pan. The actors kept the Year 3 pupils engaged and transfixed throughout, as Peter Pan and Wendy faced danger and peril from Captain Hook.
It was a wonderful day had by all and the children were thrilled to see all the actors using the same skills that they had learned earlier on that day.
