In a happy coincidence, yesterday our Junior School PA Raspberry Pi competitors submitted their first completed project to this year’s competition on World Pi Day. To celebrate they decided to tuck into some yummy raspberry pies at lunchtime!
This year, the two KES teams have been tasked to create a solution which will accelerate energy transition to sustainable and renewable sources.
Our teams have worked solidly over most lunchtimes and breaktimes since October and designed innovative solutions which have practical uses (and are fun to use too!) A special shout out must go to the Williams family who supported one of the teams by lending their premises for the design of their prototype. The two teams will unveil their projects after the entry deadlines on Monday. We wish them all the very best of luck as they wait to find out if they have qualified for the final in London.
The annual Raspberry Pi Competition, organised by PA Consulting, is a celebration of STEM education, and asks school teams to invent products that can benefit society. Using engineering and coding skills and a Raspberry Pi microcomputer, pupils put their ingenuity to the test to come up with inspiring solutions to global challenges. Responding to pressing energy crises across the world, this year’s theme is accelerating energy transition.
The two KES teams entering this year’s competition will be hoping to emulate the success of last year’s Junior School team, who won the 2022 Raspberry Pi Competition (Years 4-6 category), after taking part in the final at the Science Museum in London.
